Two-weeks in

WHEN 2 BECAME 3.

It has been 2 weeks since Zoe first stepped into my house, although I had already treated her like my own she was still technically on trial. Awaiting to see how she settled in and just whether or not we were able to handle her. It was like a test. However, in the two weeks that I’ve had her by my side. Taking up the whole bed, snoring and kicking whilst she sleeps. i could never, I would never be able to give her back. So when the question of “it’s been two weeks, is it bad news?” in terms of, whether we were keeping her or if she was going back. I responded with “It’s good news for us, but bad news for you…… We’re keeping her.”

There was no hesitation what so ever. In just a short amount of time, she’s become one of the family members and never leaves my side. Although there is still a lot to teach, she is only a puppy at heart and I will continue to teach her commands. She’s slowly introduced to other dogs of many breeds and continues to wait for my approval before she runs off and plays with other dogs.

An absolute delight. I’ve placed my life on hold so that she can have the attention that she needs, whilst also trying to limit it and solve the issue of separation anxiety. Slowly I’m trying to introduce to her that I will have to go away at times, with no one in the house and if she doesn’t chew through cables, piping and furniture or even scratch away at walls and doors, she gets a treat. These are all minor things that can be resolved with just a bit of patience.

The eldest boy, Toby - West Highland Terrier is coming on a bit now. At 17 years of age, he’s had a new burst of energy and life, now wanting to go on second and even third walks of the day. Getting a bit slower with his running and inability to climb certain things, but he’s learnt how to play with toys by watching Zoe, toys that we had bought for them before Zoe came and he never knew what to do with it. As for the other one, Charlie… He’s still the same, growling and snarling at her when she gets close. Nothing changes there, apart from when we’re out and about he’ll actually run with her until she gets too boisterous and barks at her.

Already she has been spoilt by myself and by Peggy, Dad has really taken to her and will often cradle in for hugs and kisses when he returns home from work or even before he goes to bed. She really has integrated herself into the family very well, very quickly and we all can’t wait to spend more and more time with her as a Colclough-Tsang bitch.
