Newfoundland, Canada
Newfoundland, Canada.
Whilst working for Joshua Kane, I was given the chance to travel to Newfoundland, Canada. Although it was a very short visit, it ended up being longer than expected as the original plan was to simply fly out, deliver a suit and fly back a few hours later. However, what I didn't realise was that I had to get an ESTA confirmation to be allowed to step onto the plane, this caused a delay meaning that I missed my first flight.
Having never caught a plane on my own, this was a rather stressful time for me. That only meant 1 thing... Sort out my ESTA and a new flight, then straight over the the bar and drink more wine. Few hours later, I was on my way to Toronto. Few hours there and then straight over the Newfoundland where I had a driver waiting for me at the airport to take me to my hotel. I only got to spend 16 hours in Newfoundland, 6 of those hours I was sleeping but I got up early, had breakfast and wandered round the town. It was eerily quiet due to it being remembrance day, so there wasn't many people around.
Few hours had passed, I then went back to the hotel to meet with costume designer for Frontier, the TV series. After handing over the garments, some lunch and a chat, he was on his way to his business leaving me time to explore a little further before I had to return for my flight. After walking countless amount of miles, I headed back to the hotel, gathered my belongings and went to the bar, charged my phone, had some food (and wine) and celebrated a friends birthday through facetime. My driver had arrived to take me back to the airport where I would have to do the same journey: Newfoundland > Toronto > London. Of course going through customs and grabbing myself a few duty-free cigarettes and brandy, only to then head straight back into the office when I returned to London. As much fun as it all was, it was a tiring few days, spending more time at airports and airplanes than in one place, but it gave me the confidence to travel on my own.
